Japanese Possessive Adjective




Definition: The possessive adjectives are the words that are to used for indicate to whom or to what something belongs.

Possessive Adjectives in Japanese

In Japanese language the possessive adjectives are made, adding the word の(no) after pronoun.

English Japanese Romanji
My 私 の watashi no
Your あ な た の anata no
His 彼 の kare no
Her 彼 女 の kanojo no
Our 私 た ち の watashi tachi no
Their 彼 ら の karera no

Examples:
  • my table is red.
  • 私 の テ ー ブ ル は 赤 で す
  • Watashi no tēburu wa akadesu.

  • his book is blue.
  • 彼 の 本 は 青 で す
  • Kare no hon wa aodesu.

  • your house is big.
  • あ な た の 家 は 大 き い で す
  • Anata no ie wa ōkiidesu.

  • her hair is very long.
  • 彼 女 の 髪 が 非 常 に 長 い
  • Kanojo no kami ga hijō ni nagai.

  • our school is beautiful.
  • 私 た ち の 学 校 は 美 し い
  • Watashi-tachi no gakkō wa utsukushii.
