Tempura

Tempura is a dish made of seafood (such as fish, shellfish, prawns, etc.) or vegetables that are battered and deeply fried. Tempura can be made of mushrooms, too. Tempura is not an original Japanese food as it was brought there by the Portuguese. However, Japanese has perfected its preparation. You can drink sake with tempura for a better tasting effect.

The Japanese Bean, also called Edamame bean is a snack type food (high in Magnesium) preparation of immature soybeans in the pod.

Preparation of Vegetable Tempura

INGREDIENTS:
(The receipt is meant for 4 persons)

1) Main dish:
  • 1 dl of cold water
  • 1-2 pieces of egg
  • 125-150 g of wheat flour
  • salt
  • 1 parsley
  • 1 aubergine
  • 1 onion
  • 1 carrot
  • beans
  • vegetable oil
  • glutamate

2) Sauce:
  • 50 g of sugar
  • 1dl of vegetable bouillon
  • 50 g of Soy sauce
  • Salt
PREPARATION:
  • Pour extremely cold water into a bowl.
  • Add eggs, salt, flour and stir up for a short time.
  • Clean vegetables and chop into longer slips (like size of matches), add to dough and stir gently.
  • Then take a piece of battered vegetable and insert it with a fork into hot oil in a pan.
  • Tear up the piece slightly and fry.
  • Put fried vegetables on little plates and serve with sauce made of mixed vegetable bouillon, soy sauce, sugar and glutamate.
