Ono no Komachi

Not much is known about her, according to many historians, she was a very beautiful woman who was born in the village of Ono in Ogachi around 850 CE. There is a legend about her, according to which, Ono no Komachi enjoyed breaking hearts of her many suitors, which was the reason she was punished by life, living alone until her death, but it is only a legend. The only certainty is that she was an amazing Japanese poet.
Some of her most beautiful Poems are:
  • Of the heart of man
  • 人の心の

  • In this world!
  • はな の は 色
    Hana no wa iro

  • Their color faded away

On dream and reality

Kare wa arawareru ka

Kono ai no genjitsudesu.

Matawa yume?

Watashi ga shiru koto wa dekinai

Toki ni genjitsu to yume no ryoho

Hontoni kison nashide wa sonzai.
Did he appear

because I fell asleep

thinking of him?

If only I'd known

I was dreaming,

I'd never have wakened.

Is this love reality

or a dream?

I cannot know

when both reality and dreams

exist without truly existing.
